Do you travel?

Yes! the mother thread is based in Danbury, CT, but I lead events in a 25 mile radius at no additional cost. After 25 miles, travel to your venue is $1.40/mile one way. Farther out? Just shoot me a message and we can talk logistics of greater distances! It doesn’t need to be complicated. I really want you to get the ceremony you’ve dreamed of, so I am happy to help figure this out.

What if I don’t know what I want in the ceremony?

That’s perfectly okay! Whether you come with a clear vision or no idea at all, we’ll create something meaningful together. You can hand pick what elements you want included, or simply leave it in Elisabeth’s hands. Regardless you’re going to love the experience!

What is Elisabeth’s role in the ceremony?

Elisabeth is the facilitator, and can flexibly shift from hands off to hands on based on your desires. Elisabeth wants the people you are closest to involved in the ceremony leadership through sharing readings, poems, letters, or assisting in various activities. If you have a sweet letter from your Grandma, or a poem your best friend wants to read, bring them! If your aunt has been wanting to host this for you, and she wants to lead the ceremony - go for it! Elisabeth can take a more hands off approach and do the behind the scenes planning and gently guide the gathering. It’s really all up to you and what you want for the day!

What if I’m planning this Blessing on behalf of someone else?

This is very common! About half the inquiries I get, if not more, are from a friend, mother, sister, aunt of the Mama of honor. The initial consultation call will be between us to discuss what you’re looking for. If you choose to book with me, there is an included 1-hour long in depth discussion between myself and the Mama to explore what she needs from this ceremony, and process the feelings that come up as she embarks on this chapter of motherhood.

I don’t know where to host the event. Can you help?

Absolutely. The venue space needs to be private, usually this is the home or backyard of the host. I have also had luck finding beautiful, affordable rentals of areas at local parks, yoga studios, beaches or lakesides, and botanical gardens. The key here is we need privacy and a peaceful atmosphere, so nothing that’s going to draw our attention away from this moment for the Mama.

How early do I need to book?

I recommend at least 6-8 weeks in advance. I can occasionally be available shorter notice, so just give me a call/email and we can figure something out! I try my best to make it happen so we can have a magical, memorable, healing day :)

What month of pregnancy should the Blessing take place?

I suggest month 7-8 of the pregnancy. Mother blessings typically happen closer to the birth than a typical “baby shower” would. I had mine about a month before I gave birth, and that was a nice time frame to get me in the birthing headspace and make me feel excited and prepared for what’s ahead. Talk to the guest of honor - see what they would like. The idea is to do this ceremony when the birth is approaching.

Can I have a mother blessing if I also have a shower planned?

We do this a lot! A shower is so different from a mother blessing. It doesn’t need to be either or! Have your baby shower fun, and then set a separate weekend to have an intimate, grounding mother blessing with your closest tribe. They are two completely different things, so don’t feel like you have to choose.
